Superyacht Docklines: Polyester and Dyneema® Mooring Solutions for Large Vessels

English Braids supplies two dedicated superyacht dockline constructions for large vessel mooring, covering the primary specification requirements of displacement, berth conditions and chafe environment. The Superyacht Dockline Polyester is a 100% high-tenacity polyester double-braid construction with a torque-balanced 24-plait cover that resists hockling and kinking under the cyclic loading of tidal berth mooring. The construction provides controlled extension at break which gives the line useful shock absorption characteristics for vessels in exposed berths and anchorages where surge loading is a regular condition. Polyester’s superior UV resistance and wet-strength retention make this construction appropriate for permanent or semi-permanent dockline installation. The Superyacht Dockline Dyneema® uses an SK75 Dyneema® core with a 24-plait polyester jacket, providing the high strength-to-weight ratio and minimal stretch required for precise positioning in tight berths and marinas where line length management is critical. Breaking loads across the Dyneema-cored range reach 64,100kg at 40mm, covering mooring load requirements for the largest vessels in the fleet. Both constructions are supplied with factory-applied chafe protection at high-pressure contact points as standard.
