A-Tech Cover: Aramid and Polyester Composite Sheath for High-Friction Rigging
A-Tech Cover is a high-performance composite rope sheath manufactured by English Braids at its facility in Malvern, Worcestershire. Constructed as a 24-plait protective outer layer, A-Tech blends para-aramid fibres with high-tenacity polyester to deliver exceptional thermal stability and surface grip. This sheath is designed specifically for grand prix racing teams and professional riggers who require maximum protection for Dyneema® racing rope cores at high-friction contact points. Para-aramid fibres provide a significantly higher decomposition point than standard synthetics, making A-Tech the correct specification for high-speed winch drums and aggressive clutches where friction-generated heat can compromise standard jackets. A-Tech is supplied made to order across diameters from 8mm to 20mm and includes a 4mm polyester mousing line to facilitate the tapering and core-drawing process.

This allows the load-bearing core to be drawn through the bespoke A-Tech sheath efficiently, reducing installation time and ensuring a smooth transition between covered and stripped sections of the rigging. This product integrates seamlessly with the broader racing rope range, providing a high-performance alternative to standard covers. For applications where weight reduction is prioritised over extreme heat dissipation, teams may also specify DTech (Dyneema®) or T-Tech (Technora) cover options.
