Nuanced Engineering for Machinery and Post Drivers
Agricultural machinery requires ropes that go beyond standard breaking strains; they must maintain their physical profile and resist internal degradation under extreme tension. We engineer specific constructions to solve these operational challenges:
High-Pitch Post Driver Lines: Unlike standard ropes, our post driver lines are manufactured with a significantly tighter pitch (braid angle). This higher-density 24-plait construction is critical for preventing the ingress of abrasive grit and slurry. The tighter pitch also ensures the rope maintains its round profile when passing over a machine’s sheaves, preventing the “ovalling” that leads to premature mechanical wear.
Ebraid with 3-Strand Core: For applications requiring maximum shape retention, such as automated machinery and guide systems, we offer Ebraid. By utilising a specialised 3-strand core inside a braided cover, we provide a robust internal skeleton that keeps the rope from deforming or flattening under the intense “squashing” forces of high-load hydraulic crushes.
Internal Abrasion Management: Technical data indicates that fine-grained dirt and sand can reduce a rope’s strength by 40% to 50% as particulates migrate into the core. Our dense 32-plait covers act as a mechanical barrier, doubling the operational lifespan of lines used in muck scraping and automated waste systems.
Advanced Dyneema and Livestock Management
The “private operational reality” of livestock management requires cordage that is both high-strength and biologically inert. When used in cow crushes or veterinary restraint, ropes must withstand sudden, extreme loads while remaining resistant to agricultural acids.
Chemical and Slurry Resistance: Ropes in the veterinary bay are frequently exposed to urea, slurry, and disinfectant chemicals. Our high-tenacity polyester and Dyneema® ranges are chemically resistant, ensuring the fibres do not become brittle or lose tensile integrity over time.
Soft Handling for Animal Welfare: Our 24-plait braid on braid systems offer a soft, flexible “hand” that provides superior grip and knot stability. This design ensures that loads are distributed evenly, reducing the risk of tissue damage to livestock during holding or positioning.
Zero Recoil Safety: Unlike steel cables, which can be lethal if they snap near livestock or operators, our Dyneema® SK78 lines store minimal kinetic energy. If a line is compromised, the lack of “snap-back” protects both the animal and the technician from recoil hazards.
