Floating Offshore Wind Mooring and Height Safety Systems
English Braids provides integrated cordage solutions for the entire lifecycle of Floating Offshore Wind (FOWT) assets, from deep-water station-keeping to mission-critical maintenance access. As turbines move into harsher, more remote environments, the demand for reliability extends from the seabed to the nacelle. We deliver high-tenacity Polyester and UHMPE mooring systems alongside EN-certified height safety ropes, ensuring that both the platform and the personnel maintaining it are protected by UK-manufactured excellence.

Deep-Water Station-Keeping and Dynamic Load Management
Floating offshore wind assets require mooring systems that can absorb continuous oceanic energy while maintaining the turbine’s position within tight operational tolerances. Our High-Tenacity Polyester lines, such as EB Superline, provide the essential “compliance” required for deep-water station-keeping.
By offering controlled elongation, these systems dissipate peak kinetic loads, reducing the mechanical stress on the turbine’s hull and anchors. Engineered for superior Tension-Tension Fatigue, our polyester constructions maintain their break-load integrity through millions of load cycles, offering a service life that matches the 25-year operational design of the asset. For installation and blade lifting, our Dyneema® SK78 systems provide a 7:1 strength-to-weight advantage over steel, allowing for millimetre-accurate precision and safer deck handling.
Certified Height Safety for Offshore Maintenance
Safe access for turbine maintenance in high-exposure offshore environments is non-negotiable. We provide a comprehensive range of EN 1891 Type A low-stretch kernmantle ropes specifically developed for these mission-critical tasks.
Our flagship Tutus Static is a 100% polyamide (nylon) construction, featuring a 32-plait nylon cover over a multi-core nylon interior. This design ensures the vital energy absorption required for fall protection (maintaining impact forces below 6kN), while the high sheath-to-core ratio provides the abrasion resistance needed when working against steel turbine towers.
For environments requiring even greater longevity, we offer Tutus Firex. This specialist rope utilizes a Nylon and Technora® (Aramid) blended cover engineered for extreme abrasion resistance. The addition of Technora® provides a significant increase in cut and chafe protection, dramatically extending the rope’s service life when repeatedly used over edge radii or high-friction contact points. This hybrid construction ensures that the rope maintains its structural integrity in high-wear industrial scenarios where standard synthetic covers would prematurely degrade.
