Euro Rig: 32-Plait Polyester Arborist Rigging Rope
Euro Rig is a 32-plait polyester arborist rigging rope manufactured by English Braids in Malvern, Worcestershire, combining a 16-plait polyester core with a 32-plait polyester cover. It is designed for lowering and rigging operations in arboriculture, where a smooth, supple rope surface is a practical requirement for running through rigging rings, pulleys and friction devices without excessive wear to either the rope or the hardware.
The 32-plait construction produces a denser, more regular braid surface than the 12-strand single braid of the Rig-Tex 12 or the 24-plait double braid of the Rig-Tex 24. The result is a smooth, round rope profile that runs cleanly through rigging equipment, holds knots securely and is fully spliceable for on-site termination and length adjustment. Shrinkage is 0.0%.
Polyester construction throughout gives the rope excellent chemical resistance, excellent UV resistance and a heat resistance threshold of ~260°C. Abrasion resistance is Good.
Euro Rig is available in five diameters from 10mm to 20mm, each designated a specific colourway for immediate on-site size identification: red at 10mm, orange at 12mm, blue at 14mm, yellow at 16mm and green at 20mm. All diameters are available on 100m reels.

32-Plait Construction and Rigging Performance in Arboriculture
The number of plait carriers in a rope’s braid directly affects the surface smoothness, roundness and running characteristics. A 12-strand single braid (as in the Rig-Tex 12) produces a relatively open, firm braid with good splicing properties. A 24-plait double braid (as in the Rig-Tex 24) adds a dedicated cover over the core, improving surface smoothness and hardware compatibility. A 32-plait construction takes this further: with more carriers woven at a tighter angle, the braid surface becomes more compact and regular, producing a rope that is smoother to the touch, more cylindrical in cross-section and more consistent under load as it passes through rigging rings, friction devices and pulleys.
For arborist rigging, this matters at friction points. A smoother rope surface produces more predictable friction characteristics through a friction hitch or a false crotch rigging ring, which gives the groundsperson more consistent control over the rate of descent for a lowered section. Euro Rig is also fully spliceable and holds knots securely, covering both termination methods that arborist rigging operations use in the field. Shrinkage is 0.0%, so the rope maintains its stated length under wet conditions and repeated use. For the full English Braids arborist range see the arboriculture range.

Euro Rig in the English Braids Arborist Rigging Range
Euro Rig sits at the upper end of the English Braids arborist rigging range in terms of braid specification, alongside the Rig-Tex 12 (12-strand single braid, PU coated) and the Rig-Tex 24 (12-strand core, 24-plait cover double braid). All three share the same colour-coded diameter identification system and are available in the same diameter range. The selection between them is led by the specific friction and handling requirements of the rigging application. For arborist climbing lines, English Braids manufactures the Silva-Tex 16 and Silva-Tex 24 EN 1891 Type A certified climbing ropes. For the full polyester rope range see the polyester rope range.
