Sustainable Aquaculture Rigging & Mooring Infrastructure
English Braids provides high-durability cordage solutions designed to withstand the relentless dynamic loads of open-ocean and near-shore aquaculture environments. Through our R5 Promise, we integrate sustainability into high-performance engineering, offering rPET (recycled polyester) and Bio-based Dyneema® options that reduce carbon footprints without compromising safety or service life. We specialise in the engineering of bespoke mooring systems, surface lines, and buoy rigging that prioritise UV stability, neutral buoyancy, and long-term environmental stewardship.

Optimised Mooring & Grid Systems
Selecting the correct material for aquaculture rigging is an engineering decision based on depth, buoyancy, and environmental impact. Our R5 Polyester ranges utilise high-tenacity rPET, providing the same UV resistance and fatigue life as virgin fibres while meeting corporate sustainability targets. For high-energy sites where “self-weight” is a concern, we utilise Bio-based Dyneema®. This mass-balanced fibre delivers a 7:1 strength-to-weight advantage over steel and neutral buoyancy (Specific Gravity ≈ 0.97), significantly reducing the carbon footprint of your containment infrastructure while eliminating downward drag on the cages.
Infrastructure Longevity and Risk Mitigation
In the aquaculture sector, reliability is defined by how a rope manages the FACTs: Fatigue, Abrasion, Creep, and Temperature. Our mooring lines are engineered for superior Tension-Tension Fatigue (TCLL 90), offering up to 3x the service life of generic alternatives. By combining this longevity with sustainable material choices, we offer a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and a reduced environmental impact over the operational lifecycle of a site. Every line is manufactured, factory pre-stretched and thermally set in our Malvern, UK Factory to ensure grid tensions remain constant, minimising the need for frequent offshore maintenance.
